Ceramics Teacher

Bachelor of Fine Arts (Ceramics) at the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne, Certificate IV Training and Assessment, Melbourne, Arts Degree in Literature (German, English) and Education (Secondary/Staatsexamen Sek. II)) at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe-University of Frankfurt, Germany. 

Silvia Maschek has taught Ceramics at Brighton Bay since 2002. Born in Germany, Silvia came to Australia in 1988 through an academic  exchange program and taught foreign language at government secondary schools. In Frankfurt and Cologne Silvia has also worked in contemporary theatre as well as Arts publication. In 2001 she graduated from the VCA in Melbourne. Silvia won the annual McClelland Art Grant 2001 (Sculpture and Ceramics) and recently her major interest has been traditional and contemporary Japanese ceramic art, aesthetics and culture. In 2011 Silvia participated in an International Ceramic Art Workshop (IWCAT2011) in Tokoname, Japan, working for 6 weeks as an artist in residence.
